The room emptied
long before
the door did.
Some people leave the room while still sitting in the chair.
They reply to the message. They show up to the dinner. They smile when smiled at. None of it is dishonest. The body had stayed. The room had simply emptied first.
This shape has been observed before. Not as a failing. Not as something to be fixed. As a quiet pattern that some carry from a long way back.
People who recognise this pattern often understood others before they understood themselves. They had stayed in rooms others had abandoned. They had learned to keep one foot beyond the threshold — not from fear, but from rhythm.
In the codex, this is sometimes called a Mirror Fragment. A Drift Fragment, when the leaving had become the language.
Neither is a diagnosis. They are mirrors — small ones, held at quiet angles.
None of this required a solution. Some patterns ask only to be recognised.
If a name was already forming for this pattern,
the codex had begun before you arrived.
